
Launch and Meeting of South Asia Transmission Utility Regional Network (SATURN)

Program Overview
SARI/Energy will launch the South Asian Transmission Utility Regional Network (SATURN) on March 21, 2011, in New Delhi, India. The launch involves delegates from seven South Asian countries. SATURN is being established as a member-managed organization with an objective to support the technical aspects of cross border energy trade and energy market formation throughout the South Asian region.
The launch of SATURN will coincide with the United States Energy Association's (USEA) three-day workshop on 'Best Practices For Electricity Transmission and Distribution In South Asia & Central Asia' in New Delhi, India from March 21 – 23, 2011. The objective of the workshop will be to present best practices for electricity transmission and distribution, and to identify possible improvements to the efficiency and reliability of these systems for South Asian and Central Asian countries.Objectives:
- Identifying and conducting regional programs and workshops satisfying member identified needs.
- Formation of special interest groups (SIGs) to address the technical aspects.
