Proposed Application Process
Ideas for a peer exchange may be proposed by any one of the stakeholders, by the USAID SARI/Energy coordinators or by partners who know of a situation that leads itself to an individual or small group exchange. The proposed traveler must request the concurrence of his supervisor at the planning stage of the proposal. Invitations might also be extended by a hosting institution to one of the partners.
Applications procedures are being revised, and will be posted by November 1, 2007.
Implementation
Once the idea is developed and informally approved by an applicant's supervisor and by the USAID SARI/Energy coordinator:
- The applicant requests the Peer Exchange package from SARI/Energy project office
- The application detailing the objectives and benefits of the exchange is returned to the Project office along with a cover letter indicating the support of the participant's organization
- Requests will be reviewed for their relevance to Project goals, availability of the receiving organization, as well as availability of funds
- Project personnel will arrange all logistics including communication with the receiving institution regarding details of the Exchange, travel arrangements, and related paperwork ensuring that USAID travel and insurance regulations are observed
- Records will be maintained for each application request as well as each funded Peer Exchange
- Reports will be received, logged onto the Website when appropriate, copied and forwarded or circulated to interested parties.
Funding
The Peer Exchanges are an inexpensive mechanism for providing practical and realistic on the job learning experiences. No tuition or other fees for participants are anticipated. SARI/Energy will make the appropriate arrangements, but will expect the participating organizations to pay their own expenses.
