AFGHANISTAN AND PAKISTAN JOIN PROGRAM
 
In Afghanistan and Pakistan, the newest members of the program, SARI/Energy is providing training in several focus areas: diesel generator set maintenance in Afghanistan; utility restructuring management in Pakistan; and transfer of best practices on renewable energy technologies and rural electrification in both countries. The program is also launching new rural energy initiatives in Afghanistan, including detailed resource mapping and small hydro development support.

REGIONAL EXPERTS FOCUS ON ENERGY SECURITY
 
With SARI/Energy support, a team of noted experts from India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh is conducting an assessment of South Asian energy security issues, focusing on various cross-border energy trade options that could significantly enhance the prospects for strengthening regional energy security.

INDIA AND PAKISTAN INITIATE TRADE DIALOGUE
  Energy linkages between India and Pakistan can play a critical role in the ongoing peace process and in stimulating regional economic growth. Energy cooperation is one of the cornerstones of India-Pakistan rapprochement—also a key USG foreign policy objective.
